reinventing myself... rekindling my crafty passions

Lately I've been fed up with the direction my sewing and mending idea has taken...all my time is filled with other people's mending and alterations when what I really wanted to create was a space for learning and enabling people to learn to sew and mend their own things...

I have now closed my sewing and mending websites.. simply coralwood and the sewing lady as attracting too many alteration customers and not allowing me time to be creative.. I have many quirky and unique items that I have made over the past three years that I have not managed to sell ...because nobody sees them..... earrings, knitted socks, patchwork bags, upcycled pot holders, rune bags with runes and magick wands from hazel and beech twigs.... and various fabric sewn bags galore...

Recently I created two cushion covers for my sister's patio chairs ..... circular with fancy piped edges....

I intend to take some stock photos of my creations and display them all over the internet and see if people will buy them ...

Today I managed to print some new business cards and take some photos of things I have tried craft wise recently...so here are some photos of my first attempts at fusing fabrics with a soldering iron.
I just tried various fabrics to see how they melt and fuse with the heat...the only one that didn't fuse was the metallic crinkle gold shimmer fanbri as it must have a metallic content....
and the soldering iron I used was on loan from my Dad and is only 12W and in the book it suggests using 30w

The last performance this eason in Oxford is today June 26th at 2.30pm in The Open Air Amphitheatre of the Said Business school...Frideswide Square Oxford...

Yesterday I made a huge batch of cakes for a cake and bric-a-brac sale in Didcot Broadway... we sold a few but still have loads left over as we did it on the spur of the moment as the weather was sooooo nice...

Faringdon in pictures
Brilliant photos, .... I wish I could compose like this!
I didn't finish the cushions yeaterday as I intended. Instead I popped round my mum and dad's and ended up helping them to cut out some new sofa covers in a lovely blue embossed draylon. We had to repair their sewing machine first as after sitting unused for many years a capacitor in the foot control had blown and the machine started off on its own and would not stop until we disconnected the electricity.
I untangled the thread from the bobbin raceway whilst dad found a replacement capacitor and by 9pm we had two completed re-upholstered cushions, four more cut out ready and my dad has been instructed on how to complete the rest.
I will pop round later to see how he gets on.
